Fire Hood Design, Fabrication and Installation
Riverview Welding Services was commissioned to design, fabricate, and install a custom fire hood for The Swan Inn’s dining room.
The client’s brief was clear: create a fire hood that seamlessly matched the character and quality of the recently refurbished inn.
Design and Collaboration
After conducting a detailed site survey, we produced initial drawings for review by the client and their architect.
The design incorporated hand-forged rivets and bespoke wall brackets, carefully crafted to enhance the warm and inviting atmosphere of the dining room.
Fabrication and Finishing
Once the design was approved, the fire hood was fabricated using high-quality mild steel.
To ensure durability and aesthetic appeal, the hood was coated with heat-resistant matte black paint, blending perfectly with the room’s decor.
Precision Installation
- Careful logistical planning ensured the fire hood was delivered to the inn safely and on schedule.
- Before installation, a precise template was created to mark the exact drilling points on the fireplace wall.
- Threaded bars were then securely resined into place, ready to support the hood.
- The fire hood was carefully lifted and mounted, followed shortly by the installation of the wood-burning stove to complete the project.
The Result
The finished fire hood is a stunning centerpiece that perfectly complements the ambiance of The Swan Inn’s dining room. Combining functionality with exceptional craftsmanship, it has become a defining feature of the space.
